Exhibits

KieranTimberlake: Drawn + Quartered

Presented in partnership with the Architectural Archives at the University of Pennsylvania, Drawn + Quartered was a 2016 two-part physical exhibit that showcased the practice of drawing, dissecting, testing, questioning, and building that KieranTimberlake undertakes on a regular basis. In addition to the physical exhibit, I conceptualized and designed a website component for each prototype in the Quartered section which took place in the KieranTimberlake studio.

I was in charge of coordinating all logistics for the Quartered side of the exhibit–everything from the creation of the neon and vinyl signage to the commissioning and spec-ing of scale models and pedestals.

I conceptualized and worked with graphic designers to create floor vinyl object labels for each prototype, scale model, or mock-up. Each object label corresponded to a project and is outlined in the Exhibit Guide, which we designed in-house, below.

See the full Guide here.

I also commissioned editorial photographer Christopher Leaman to document a representative prototype or mock-up from each of the projects outlined in the Quartered exhibit.

I then interviewed and recorded architects speaking about their prototyping process, and edited the audio to accompany either the site or a walk around the physical space. Listen to an example below, corresponding to the Dilworth Park Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS) mock-up, followed by a sample social media post about the prototype and exhibit.

Understanding Place: Seven Years Researching Dhaka, Bangladesh

To accompany the KieranTimberlake publication, Alluvium, I worked with New York Institute of Technology Associate Professor and Exhibitions Coordinator Naomi Frangos to conceptualize and produce a quick exhibit at the NYIT Old Westbury, NY campus.

I installed hundreds of photographs from seven years of student and partner photography from the University of Pennsylvania School of Design Dhaka-Design Research Laboratory trips to Dhaka, Bangladesh. We also set up a looping video of footage captured by architects that I edited, and which we rear-projected at 8-ft scale.

I additionally conceptualized animations of diagrams from the Alluvium book–Mind Maps–which followed the complex context of designing in a location such as Dhaka. I worked with the KieranTimberlake communications team to animate 5 different Mind Maps in AfterEffects, and then I recorded audio edited with sounds of Dhaka, to create videos to be projected on the floor. See an example of a loop below.

Photography Coordination

I conceptualized and coordinated logistics with architectural & editorial photographers, and assisted with production on photo shoots.
